Hartford, CT — The Center for DNA-Guided Medicine (CDGM) participated in Kingswood Oxford School’s Summer Programs and Career Exploration Fair (SPACE Fair 2026), engaging middle and upper school students and families through interactive laboratory demonstrations and peer-led scientific discussions.
During the event, CDGM students served as peer role models, guiding visitors through hands-on demonstrations that illustrated real-world applications of molecular biology, laboratory medicine, and genomics. Students explained core concepts such as DNA extraction, laboratory workflow, and how early exposure to authentic lab environments can support future academic and career pathways.
The CDGM booth featured live equipment displays, student explanations of laboratory techniques, and conversations with families about how experiential science learning builds confidence, curiosity, and college readiness.
A highlight of the event was the opportunity for Kingswood Oxford leadership to interact directly with CDGM students.
Peggy Clark, BA, MALS, MS, 6th Year, Associate Director of College Counseling, met with participating students to discuss what they had learned through their laboratory experiences and how those skills translate into long-term academic and career goals.
School representatives emphasized the value of CDGM’s presence, noting that the event would have felt incomplete without the organization’s hands-on scientific engagement and student leadership component.
CDGM’s participation reinforced its mission: to connect classroom science with authentic laboratory experience while helping students explore careers in medicine, biotechnology, genomics, and allied health fields.
Center for DNA-Guided Medicine continues to partner with local schools across Connecticut and Massachusetts to expose students to hands-on science and career-focused mentorship, bridging the gap between academic education and healthcare professions.
